The Designer is a part of the CardExchange product and is used to create card layouts, who are presented as selectable buttons in the CardExchange Main interface. Variables and functions is very powerful functionality of the CardExchange Designer. The variables are used to present information on the card layout that is coming from, for example, databases. Functions can be used in combination with variables. Functions is based on a scripting language and at this section you can search for answers for functionality that you want to use or post a question.

Every connected card in CardExchange is based on a collection of definitions. Definitions for database connections, contactless encoding, mappings, etc. all is hold in the main card definition file and these files are managed by the card manager. Any questions about the use of the card manager and the card definitions can be looked up in this forum.

When card layouts, database connections, contactless definitions, etc. are created, they need to be connected with eachother. This is done via the mappings in CardExchange. If you have questions about this mapping of items, look at this forum to find answers and post questions.

Printing and producing cards is the main purpose of the CardExchange application. Every connected card can have it's own printer and printer settings. Questions about using the printers can be found or addressed in this forum.

Photos can be used in CardExchange starting from the Entry version. In the Premium edition you also can use signatures. Questions about the use of photos and signatures with CardExchange can be posted in this forum.

From CardExchange Premium, authorizations are supported. With the authorizations you can create user group and user profiles for accessing CardExchange by means of login and define exactly what each user or group is allowed to do when logged in. When creating connections to database you use the Database definition wizard to create a connection. The database definitions contains all the settings and properties of the connected database. Questions and answers can be viewed or post in this forum.

When using the database module in combination with CardExchange Premium, direct (native) connections with large database servers like MS SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, can be created. CardExchange Premium offers unique functionality to combine tables/views. If you need information from different tables in a database but you only have access to the tables, you can create a combinations of the tables based on SQL. From CardExchange Premium edition, we offer the use of powerful storage items. These items can be configured to store external data like print dates, print counts, computer users, etc. It also allowes you, in combination with the Multiple Database Server connections, to create storage items that pushes information from the leading database to the receiving database(s).
