Problem: When I start up CardExchange, I suddenly get a message box that asks me for a login. I didn't change anything in the CardExchange configuration.

Cause: Do you think we believe that you didn't change anything? You actually clicked on the option Enable logins feature in the Configuration tab. With this option, you can define users and user authorizations for CardExchange. At start up, you have to login and your user name determines which functionality is available to you. If you just enabled the feature, but did not enter the account definitions wizard, there are two default users: Administrator with password Administrator and Guest with password Guest. The guest has limited rights, while the administrator has full rights.

Solution: Login as Administrator (password: Administrator), go to the Configuration tab and disable the option Enable logins feature. For version 3 and the classic skin of version 4, you find this option in the Authorizations menu.

But I didn't do anything...it must have done it by itself... :?

(We know this in Australia as an Organic Interface error)

Is it possible to hide the enable login feature tick box, or disable the enable login feature tick box with an entry in the ini file ?
This will stop some people turning it on by accident!

===

Also it would be good to bve able to set the default login name if authorisations are turned on to be something specific (ie change it in the ini file?) rather than it grabbing the logged in windows user ?

This will enable a restricted user to be setup without a password that they can just hit enter for and not get access to all features.
Some sites want to restrict what everyday users can do but dont want them to manage logins and passwords.

Hi Jason,

I have added your suggestions to the to-do list. It is incredible how often people switch on logins without knowing what they are doing. WE probably should also tell in the message window what the default user name and password are to login with.
