Hi Jason,

We're not supporting WIndows 7 officially, although we are running some tests. Reading the error message it seems that the COM libraries have not been registered properly. They can be registered manually using the regsvr32.exe tool in the system32 folder. The most important COM libraries in CardExchange are:

  • CardExchangeDesigner.dll
  • XCeedCry.dll
  • FargoPrinterSDK12.dll
  • VBTablet.dll

Hi,

this error is related with Peedy, Microsoft has decided to stop the development of Microsoft Agent technologies. Microsoft Agent is not included in Windows 7 or any other future versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

We are planning to replace it with the new wizard, but in the meantime if someone wants to run CardExchange in Windows 7 32 bits (CardExchange isn't supporting 64 bits system yet) the workaround below is needed:
1 - Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969168, request the hot fix and install it in your pc.
2 - Copy the attached character to C:\Windows\msagent\chars

Now is possible to run CardExchange and avoid that error, Peedy will appear but will not talk because we didn’t install the speech engine.

With best regards

Hi,

as i posted above CardExchange cannot be executed in Windows 7 64 bits, but there is a workaround too. Is possible to run CardExchange in a 64 bits system using virtualization and the xp mode feature of it.
You can find at this link http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html a nice topic about Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup", with this solution is possible to have a 32bits xp system running inside a Windows 7 64bits system.
When you install CardExchange inside this virtual machine is even possible to open it directly, because it will appear in Windows 7's application menu as you can see in the screen below.

Hi Jason,

Peedy is the only issue that we are aware of but the time for the release was to limited to have it removed from the application. Because of the fact that Microsoft announced that Windows 7 will be released this month, we will take it up in the next release of CE.

That means that we kill the bird now, but with the new Step-by-Step wizard the use of Peedy is not needed anymore.

Thanks for the Great and prompt response.
We are sure to have a few people trying to upgrade to windows 7 on day 1 and they will do so before thinking about their software.

We have card exchange, (v5 i believe) and we have upgraded our office to Windows 7, 64 bit. Can you advise if this is now supported or do we need to move to the new version?

Dear Javid,

Windows 64 bit is only supported from CardExchange® version 6 and that means that you need to upgrade. I advice you to contact your CardExchange® reseller for upgrade pricing. Please directly check if your ID Card Printer also supports 64 bit because not all printer manufacturers have these drivers available.

Thanks.
